Hearing protection is absolutely crucial when shooting, whether you’re at an indoor or outdoor range. Let’s face it: at most public ranges, wearing ear protection is a requirement, regardless of your rifle or pistol’s decibel level. Not to mention most of the suppressors are “hearing safe” but they can still be uncomfortable to shoot with naked ears.
For a long time, I used over-the-ear models like the Sordin Supreme Pro. While they provided solid protection, living in a warm climate made them uncomfortable after extended use. The heat and moisture tended to build up around my ears, which could become a nightmare during a long day of shooting.
Everything changed when I discovered the Otto Noize Barriers. I first tried them during a two-day pistol class, which involved shooting for 8-10 hours each day. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t feel the need to take them out once. The only slight awkwardness was the initial feeling of inserting them into my ears, but once they were in, they were incredibly comfortable (like your moms prom night). I was able to carry on conversations throughout the day without any issues, which was a huge surprise being used to years of taking the sordins on and off all day.
One of the standout features of the Otto Noize Barriers is that they come with multiple plug sizes to ensure a snug fit, making it easy to find the right size for your ears.
In my honest opinion, these earplugs are fantastic. Yes, they are on the pricier side compared to other options, but when it comes to investing your hard-earned money in gear, hearing protection should be a top priority. You don’t want to compromise on something that can have lasting effects on your health.
Overall, this is the most amount of money ive ever spent on hearing protection but every time I put them on it reminds that they were absolutely worth it.
I wouldn’t recommend wearing them at an indoor range with rifle fire because it can be very uncomfortable especially when people are shooting 7.5” garbage can rifles setting off alarms in the parking lot. However outdoors I have used them for rifle, handgun and even shotgun shooting.

As much as I’m sure you’d love to tell you more about penetrating your ear canal, I’m afraid I’m running late to pick up someone’s mom.
